Cut/Plot and Contour Cutting in eCut Designer Toolkit for CorelDRAW

eCut Designer Toolkit is the perfect tool for plotter output. It can print files using system driver and via COM port (using eCom). The many built-in algorithms make plotted curves look perfect and a faster weeding process.

Contour Cutting: How It Works

When working with a cutter, many people face a choice of software to use. All software has both pros and cons. One of the most important inconveniences is that all of these software packages are separate programs!

That means, you need to import artwork. eCut doesn’t have this problem as it cuts directly from CorelDRAW. Cutting over the driver leads to bad quality of curves in some cases, especially on long blocks. eCut corrects this mistake because it prepares a file independently. Also there are a lot of algorithms in eCut to make curves look more smooth, change the first point of curve, sort curves, emulate offset and more!

In most cases eCut connects to plotter directly through the plotter driver. If you have a COM-port connection to your plotter, then you can use eCom.exe (described on FAQ page).

ATTENTION! If You Use Chinese cutter (nonOFFSET) there can be problems using the plotter driver (cutter can stop in wrong places or cut wrong lines). In these cases use eCOM. eCOM writes files directly to the cutter port, without plotter driver (works only with COM ports).

Main window

Here you can select plotter from list of installed on Your PC. You can also choose to not allow eCut to print directly to plotter, but save job in a file. (“Print to file”). In this case eCut will create file c:\eCut\temp\temp.plt

You can create profile for each plotter you have, or profiles for a plotter and use them as you wish.

You can specify value and roll down it on plotter, and after that make plotter come back to the origin point.

Position and Layout

Specify the offset point.

Color tab

Sort (or not) objects before output (bottom-up).
You can also use optimal sort which can decrease time in some cases.

First point
You can specify how eCut will change first point (or not). In most cases it is better to use “by angle” with value “0”. If you cut big objects, you can select “by distance” and it will decrease time.

Overcut on specified value.

Check media before cut
Check block dimensions before cut.

Draw dots
Draw dots in block dimensions when checking media.

Park carriage in upper point (+value) of block.

Mark plotted
Mark plotted object after cutting.

Plotter parameters

Blade parameters
ATTENTION!!! Change this value only if your plotter does not have hardware-controlled offset!

HPGL comands

HPGL commands
Fill this data only if you know commands of your plotter

Manufacturer list

If your plotter is listed, choose it under Manufacturers. Otherwise choose HPGL,
